HammerSlogger

HammerSlogger is an online account of the 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division’s training and deployment to Iraq. At the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 the Sledgehammer Brigade helped lead U.S. forces into Baghdad. The soldiers of the 3rd Brigade deployed to Iraq again in 2005. Now, the soldiers are preparing for the unit’s third deployment to Iraq.

Chris Sweigart joined News 3 in May of 2004. He comes to Columbus from Atlanta, where he was raised.

As a reporter for WRBL, Chris' work knows no borders. He's been to Iraq where he was embedded with Fort Benning soldiers. "It was an important assignment to me," Chris says. "Bringing the stories of our local soldiers back home to our viewers was a great experience."

Chris graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta with a degree in Political Science. While in college, he worked behind the scenes as a production assistant for CSS covering sports around the Southeast. He also completed two internships at CNN.

After college, Chris was promoted by CSS to Associate Producer/Reporter, and was assigned to cover the Atlanta Falcons for the 2003 season on a new network launched by CSS called FalconsVision. It was the first 24-hour television station devoted entirely to one NFL team.

When he's not covering the news, Chris can be found on the golf course, taking in a good baseball or hockey game, or relaxing with friends.
